History of the All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association

July1968	The 1st All Japan Nishikigoi Show meeting preparation committee was established
December1968	The 1st All Japan Nishikigoi Show (Sponsor: Niigata Koi Association of Niigata / Place: Hotel New Otani Garden Hall)
January1970	The All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association was established. The 2nd All Japan Koi Show was held(Sponsor: All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association)
January1978	The 10th All Japan Nishikigoi. (Place: Tokyo Ryutsu Center)
October1981	The Koi Promotion Center in Ojiya was completed
March1983	The 1st All Japan Junior Koi Show. (The predecessor of All Japan young Koi show)
January1988	The 20th All Japan Nishikigoi Show
March1989	The International The Best Nishikigoi Show
1991	The organ magazine “GEKKAN NISHIKIGOI” was published
March1992	The 10th All Japan Young Koi Show
January1998	The 30th All Japan Nishikigoi Show
April2001	The Koi was put into the courtyard pool of the chairman of the house of representatives
March2002	The 20th All Japan Young Koi Show
2004	The 36th All Japan Nishikigoi Show was canceled due to Koi herpesvirus outbreak, and the International Nishikigoi Summit was held.
October2004	An earthquake occurred in Chuetsu of Niigata，so that the koi production area suffered serious damage
April2005	The Koi was put into the Kyoto State Guest House
January2009	The 40th All Japan Nishikigoi Show
February2010	The 41st All Japan Nishikigoi Show was held for the first time in Niigata (Place：TOKI MESSE of Niigata)
2011	Due to the East Japan earthquake, the 29th All Japan Young Koi Show was canceled, but a charity event was held.
May2012	The Koi was put into the house of representative’s atrium cistern on (Place: Parliament building)
March2013	The 30th All Japan Young Koi Show
April2013	The 1st International Junior Koi Show.
May2017	Nishikigoi is designated as “Ornamental fish of Niigata”
February2019	The 50th All Japan Nishikigoi Show
2020	Due to the spread of the COVID-19, the 37th All Japan Young Koi Show and the 8th International Junior Koi show have been canceled.
December2021	Due to the spread of the COVID-19, the 37th All Japan Young Koi Show was held for the first time in December (Place：Niigata City Industrial Promotion Center)
February2022	The main terms related to Nishikigoi and the names and definitions of the 21 basic varieties are specified by JAS.
May2022	Renamed to “General Incorporated Association All Japan Nishikigoi Promotion Association”
October2022	Nishikigoi was certified as the “National Fish” by the Japan Ornamental Fish Promotion Business Association.
November2022	World Nishikigoi Summit(Place：TOKI MESSE of Niigata)
December2022	The Japanese government added koi as a key export species
April2023	The 10th International Junior Koi Show.
